Can you sublimate on magnets?
If you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible to do sublimation on a magnet, the answer is a resounding yes! Sublimation allows you to transfer vibrant and permanent designs onto various substrates, and magnets are no exception. However, ensuring that the magnet you’re using is a suitable substrate for accepting sublimation ink is crucial. Be sure the blank you purchase states that it is a sublimation blank.

How to sublimate on a magnet.
Let’s explore the fascinating process of sublimating on magnets using the Cricut Easy Press 2. In this tutorial, I’ll guide you on resizing and printing your sublimation design using Cricut Design Space. We’ll then transfer these sublimation designs onto magnets that I purchased from Temu, creating eye-catching, beautiful results.

How to sublimate on magnets. Step-by-Step Instructions.
Prepare Your Design:

Using Cricut Design Space, or your preferred design software, size and customize your SVG to fit the magnet’s dimensions.

After clicking Make it from your Design Space canvas, use the system dialog and adjust your colors for the best print experience. Next, load your sublimation printer and print your design. *I have included the settings I used for this design in a pdf file with your free download.
Heat and Press:

Preheat your Cricut Easy Press 2, or heat press, to the recommended temperature for sublimation. The time and temperature I used with my Cricut EasyPress 2 were 360 degrees for 40 seconds.
Cut Out Design:

Once your design is printed, carefully cut it out with scissors to ensure precise edges. You can also tear your printed design if that is the method you prefer. Just be careful not to rip the image.
Prepare Your Sublimation Blank:

Clean your magnet with a lint roller to remove any dust, lint, and other small particles before pressing.
Center and Secure Your Design:

Center your design on your sublimation magnet. You can hold up your magnet and sublimation print to a light source like a window or a bright light to help you adjust the placement. I use a light pad.

Place your printed sublimation design facing down on the magnet, making sure it’s centered. Secure with heat tape.
Apply Heat and Pressure:

Place your magnet inside a piece of folded butcher paper. Be sure your magnet is on the bottom with your printed design on the top.

Follow the recommended time and temperature settings for sublimation. Press the Easy Press 2 or heat press onto the design and magnet, applying even pressure.
Cool and Peel:

After the sublimation process, allow the magnet to cool down. Once cooled, peel off the transfer paper to reveal your vibrant sublimation magnet.
