Is your Christmas tree up yet? Ours is going up this weekend, and I’m so excited! I love the warmth that Christmas lights bring to a room! Do you have a theme for your Christmas tree? I can’t say I do because I like to add new ornaments each year, so I guess my theme is simply Christmas. This week I have some free gingerbread face SVG files for you. I made paper ornaments using cardstock, adhesive vinyl, and this week’s free gingerbread face SVG files! I personalized one with my grandson’s name, and it came out so cute!! Watch the tutorial to see how I made them! This project is so easy you could make a whole stack of ornaments for your gingerbread family!

What Do I Need to Make Gingerbread Face Ornaments?

List of supplies I used to make my Gingerbread ornaments.

-Cardstock: I used Red and Gold Glitter
-Adhesive Vinyl: Black, White, Light Red, Yellow, Powder Pink, Green, Camel
-Vinyl Cutting Machine: I have the Cricut Explore Air 2
–Cutting Mat
–Brayer
–Weeding Tools and Pin Pen
–Glue
–Contact Paper

Step by Step instructions on how to make Gingerbread Face Ornaments.

Bring your Free Gingerbread Kids SVG into Cricut Design Space

I use Cricut Design Space, but other cutting software follows the same general instructions. You can watch the video tutorial to see how to add your free SVG to your Design Space canvas. 

After cutting your cardstock and adhesive vinyl with your cutting machine, weed your vinyl.

Apply your glue to the cardstock ornament and apply the glitter cardstock top.

Using Contact Paper with Adhesive Vinyl

Contact paper does not have a very strong grip, making it ideal for adding vinyl to cardstock. The contact paper will not rip your cardstock, but because the grip is not strong, it can make picking up vinyl a bit challenging. You may need to flip over your vinyl, so the contact paper is on the table and then fold the paper backing from your vinyl back, making sure the vinyl sticks to the contact paper.

Assemble your gingerbread man face.

Using the contact paper, layer the pieces of your adhesive vinyl and “build” your gingerbread man to make it easier to apply to your cardstock ornament.

Pull back the contact paper and continue assembling your gingerbread man.

Continue layering your adhesive vinyl until your gingerbread face is assembled.

Using your squeegee, burnish the contact paper over the entire gingerbread man.

Remove your assembled gingerbread man.

Flip the gingerbread man over while it’s still on the vinyl paper backing with the contact paper. Then, carefully peel the paper backing away from the adhesive vinyl, making sure the gingerbread man adheres to the contact paper.

Apply the gingerbread man to your cardstock.

Carefully position your assembled gingerbread man over your cardstock and lay it down, pressing firmly. Pull the contact paper off.

Apply the snow, name, and year to your paper ornament.

Free Gingerbread Face Girl SVG- Merry Christmas Ornament

Follow the same steps to make your gingerbread girl ornament.

Carefully remove your contact paper from your cardstock ornament.

Apply the snow, Merry Christmas, and year to your paper ornament with the contact paper.
